The aroma of food drifting throughout the festival,

the Run for the Mums awards hanging around the

necks of those who entered for the first time or

those who returned for the challenge, the train rides

provided by Cimarron Valley Home Educators, JoJo the Clown,

the pony rides along with thirty artists displaying and

exchanging conversations with festival goers and the

smiles on the faces of everyone in Memorial Park

last Saturday was hard to beat – even the OU game

was televised, thanks to Roots Hometown Furniture

and Appliances!

From the amazing foot work of Dance Star

Productions to the talents of the Cushing school

bands, choirs, cheerleaders and those marvelous main

music acts…. yes, the weather was perfect and the

memories are priceless.

The Lions Club Chili Cook Off was as tasty as the

memories of the festival its self!

Taking this year’s Peoples Choice Award is; Hilltop Nursery

and judges gave Falco Alarm – First place, Hilltop

Nursery second place and Valley Hope followed up

with third place in the judging.

The Best Decorated Booth went to Hilltop Nursery,

who had made a fabulous Venus flytrap plant

fashioned in paper mache’ and it had mechanical

movement too! I am sure that some of those chili

eaters must have thought of the Rocky Horror

Picture Show while watching the movement of that

plant!  Wow,  those Prestons are one talented

couple!

Yes, it’s true… all that remain are the memories of

the 23rd Festival In The Park and there are a lot of

volunteers who are surely re-cooperating this week

after their hard work and efforts to make this year’s

festival a success for the community and beyond.

Great job Volunteers – thanks for bringing us

festival goers this outstanding event for 2011!
