(Cushing, Okla.) The following information is based on a preliminary collision report furnished by the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
A personal injury collision occurred on Tuesday, February 28th (2017) at approximately 4:23 pm on 116th Street at Meridian, located 11 miles west of Perkins city limits, in Payne County.
Jeffery Wayne Reed (33) of Coyle was driving a 2002 Dodge Dakota eastbound on 116th Street when he failed to yield to a 2016 Freight-liner school bus (Coyle Public Schools) driven by Kristie Ranee Schroeder (52) of Coyle striking it on the driver’s side door.
Reed was transported by ambulance to Stillwater Medical Center where he was treated and released. Schroeder was reported to have not been injured in the collision, but two of her female passengers, ages 10 and 14, were transported to Stillwater Medical Center where they received treatment and were released. Various other passengers on the bus were reported to be uninjured.
According to the DPS report the collision was caused due to a failure to yield. Seat-belts were in use by both drivers.
