Melvin (Sonny) Lee Sager Jr. Cushing, OK

Melvin (Sonny) Sager Jr. Passed away at home after a short illness of Rapid Progressing Alzheimer’s.

Melvin was born August 9, 1952, in Cushing, Oklahoma to Melvin Sr. and Gayle Sager. He married Loretta (Savory) Sager on June 10, 1983.

Melvin was a butcher at Ralph’s Packing Company. He later worked in the Oilfield. Melvin attended ~ Meridian Technology graduating Power Line Technology ~ Top of his class. During those years, Melvin worked for the City of Stillwater, City of Edmond, and retired from OG&E in 2015.

After retirement, he took care of his side kick grandson Eric. Eric was the apple of his eye. They did everything together.

In 2023, Melvin became the Instructor at Central Tech Power Line Technology. He loved teaching. He retired after one year of teaching because of illness.

Melvin enjoyed riding side by sides, boating, and helping Eric with show animals. Spending time with family and helping others.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother -in-law, Bill Edmondson.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Sager of the home; Son, Cory & Karon Sager of Dallas; Two daughters, Dana & Christopher of Oklahoma City. Ashley Sager of Drumright; Grandchildren, Kiara Cope, Tye Cope, Xavier Cope, Eric Sager, Payzlee Sager, and Emberlynn Sager. Siblings, Linda Edmondson of Noble, Connie Thomas & John of Coyle, Steve Sager of Colorado, Joe Sager & Nancy of Poteau and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be Monday, January 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel.
