Gary Lee Pruitt
AUGUST 24, 1956 – JUNE 7, 2026

In Loving Memory of Gary Lee Pruitt — Son, Brother, Husband, Dad, and Grandpa — passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at the age of sixty-nine, surrounded by the family he adored at his residence in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Born on August 24, 1956, in Cushing, Gary was the beloved son of Charles A. Pruitt and Alfa Faye (McFarlin) Pruitt. His life was a beautiful tapestry of quiet devotion to his family, an intimate connection to the land he carefully nurtured, and a gentle, humble spirit of faith and community service. Gary spent his youth in the rural landscapes of Payne and Lincoln Counties, inheriting a legacy of hard work, honesty, and deep faith from his parents. Gary was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on February 17, 1977. For Gary, farming was more than a career; it was a stewardship of the earth. He established a highly successful agricultural career, becoming a deeply respected independent farmer whose operations in Cushing and Agra were known not only for their productivity, but for the resilience and heart he poured into every seed. He married the love of his life, Debbie Cook, and together they built a home anchored in absolute devotion, shared laughter, and enduring family ties. To those who knew him, Gary was a steady anchor—always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, and a gentle presence that brought peace to those around him.

He is survived by his beloved soulmate and wife, Debbie Pruitt of Cushing; his loving children, Clinton Dwayne Pruitt and wife Brigette (Pineda) Pruitt, Elizabeth Carol (Pruitt) Ailey and husband Troy Ailey, John Adam Andrew Pruitt, Rebekah Lee (Pruitt) Cushenbery and partner Skyler David, Debbie Tamar Pruitt, and Rachel Chevelle (Pruitt) Qavi and husband Muhammad Ali Qavi. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Bella, Maryjane, Abdul, Bethany and husband Craig Stoate, Roxy and husband Nick Dobbs, Conagher, Samuel, and Jonathan; his adored great-grandchild, Michael Dobbs; his devoted brother, Alford Pruitt and wife Bertha of Lebanon, Missouri; his caring sisters-in-law, Doris Ingram and Amber Sanders, along with her husband George; and a wonderful network of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong neighbors who will miss his quiet warmth.

Gary was joyfully reunited in Heaven with his parents, Charles A. and Alfa Faye Pruitt; his brother, Benjamin Andrew "B.A." Pruitt; his mother-in-law, Carla Cook; and his father-in-law, Stanley Lee Cook. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and legacy.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 am at The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn Osage, where Gary’s spiritual roots ran deep. He will be laid to rest at Flynn Cemetery, returning to the Oklahoma earth he spent his lifetime loving and tending.
