Basil Lee Belveal Jr.
February 23, 1956 - December 26, 2025

Basil Lee Belveal, Jr., was born on February 23, 1956, at Mable Dale Hospital in Yale, Oklahoma, to Delorva and Basil Belveal, Sr. He grew up in Yale and attended Yale Public Schools before graduating from Mustang High School in May of 1974, where he was a member of the school band and played trombone.

Following high school, Basil enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Junction City, Kansas. He later married Patricia Bloom, and together they raised five children. After receiving a medical discharge due to a knee injury, Basil returned to Oklahoma and spent many years working in the oilfield in and around Cushing.

Never one to shy away from hard work or new challenges, Basil later pursued a calling in healthcare. He attended nursing school and became a licensed nurse, serving others in various nursing roles for more than 20 years. His career reflected a deep sense of responsibility, compassion, and service to those in need.

In retirement, Basil embraced the freedom of the open road, finding joy riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and completing numerous cross-country rides with close friends. His faith was central to his life, and he was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Cushing, Oklahoma, where he faithfully served as a deacon for several years.

Family was deeply important to Basil. He cherished time spent with his extended family and greatly enjoyed attending family reunions, where he could reconnect, share stories, and celebrate those bonds. He was a beloved uncle and cousin and maintained close relationships with his many nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout his life.

Basil was preceded in death by his parents, Delorva and Basil Belveal, Sr., and his sister, Sheryl Blaisdell.

He is survived by his sister, Sharon Crisjohn and her husband, Robert; his children: Angela Hoyland and her husband, Tim; Amy Anderson and her husband, Nicholas; Shannon Doles and her husband, Jake; Chris Belveal; and Kyle Belveal and his wife, Briea. Basil also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a great source of pride and joy in his life.
