(Yale, Okla.) On May 9th, the Yale Volunteer Fire Association hosted their annual fundraiser.
The fundraiser has historically been held in February in conjunction with the Civil War reenactment. “We decided to move the dinner to later in the year and serve BBQ,” Fire Chief Josh Robinson said.
Approximately 200 supporters gathered at the station to tour the fire trucks, station and enjoy a meal of BBQ, potato salad, baked beans, and dessert.
Firefighters were on hand to sell rural fire memberships and give smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to families that needed them.
The event was free, however, firefighters were accepting donations. Chief Robinson said “We really appreciate the support that the community gives to us year round and we like to take time to say thank you.”
If you would like to purchase a rural fire membership or need a smoke or carbon monoxide detector, contact the Yale Fire Department at 918-387-2403.
