(Stillwater, Okla.) — A woman with a history of drunk driving arrests was charged this week with child endangerment for allegedly driving under the influence of liquor while transporting her children, ages 2, 6, and 11, in her car in Stillwater on Friday.

Michelle Leigh Mauk, 31, of Perkins, was also charged with felony DUI, as well as misdemeanor counts of possessing the drugs hydrocodone and lorazepam, along with transporting an opened container of liquor described as Smirnoff green apple in her car on Friday.

If convicted of her latest charges, Mauk could be incarcerated for 15 and one-half years and fined $11,500, court records show.

Mauk, who was freed on $25,000 bond the day after her arrest, was arraigned on the four-count charge and ordered to return to court on Nov. 14 with an attorney, court records show.

Mauk, who has also been known by the surname Brown, was already on five years’ probation for drunk driving and transporting an opened container of beer in her car in Stillwater in 2004.

Mauk was originally given a five-year deferred sentence in 2005 with an order to enroll in and complete the Payne County Drug Court program, but that was changed in 2010 to a five-year suspended sentence.

Also in 2010, Mauk was placed on one year’s probation for escaping from Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Robert Burrows — while handcuffed and belted into the rear seat of his patrol car — by unbuckling her seatbelt, opening the doors and running from the scene for about 30 yards until she was captured, court records show.

Mauk had previously been placed on one year’s probation in 2002 for drunk driving and transporting an opened container of beer in 2001 in Stillwater, court records show.

Mauk had also been previously placed on three months’ probation in 2002 for assault and battery in 2001, court records show.
