(Stillwater) — A Stillwater woman who is on probation for passing six forged checks in Cushing in one day’s time was arraigned Friday on a felony charge accusing her of passing eight bogus checks in Stillwater in less than a month.
Michelle Lee Kinsley, 23, who previously lived in Cushing, remains free on $10,000 bond pending her return to court Aug. 13.
In her latest charge, Kinsley is alleged to have passed eight bogus checks totaling $1,415 between June 20 and July 15 — five to Cowboy Corner and one each to Cooper’s Bicycle Center, Leonard Jewelry and Vestice, all in Stillwater.
Last year, Kinsley was placed on three years’ probation for passing six forged checks on a relative’s account totaling $340 on Jan. 5, 2007 — five to Maveric Mini-Mart and one to Escott’s grocery, all in Cushing.
When she was given a deferred sentence by Associate District Judge Robert Murphy Jr., who is no longer on the bench, Kinsley was ordered to pay $340 restitution at the rate of $20 per month, which she allegedly failed to do, court records show.
