William Fred Canaan, age 79 of Stillwater, Oklahoma formerly of Broken Arrow, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at his home near Stillwater. No services are scheduled at this time.

William was born on October 23, 1930 in Champagne, Illinois to the late Clarence and Ruth (Vest) Canaan. He grew up in Illinois and graduated from Scotland, Arkansas in 1947. William married Virginia Shook on May 11, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada . He was a Christian by faith. William was a self-employed carpenter working on various jobs throughout the state. They lived in the Tulsa, Bixby and Broken Arrow area for a number of years. They moved to the Perkins/Stillwater area to be near their daughter and family. He enjoyed collecting clocks and working outside.
Williams is survived by his wife Virginia of the home, daughters Suzy Kimball and husband Nate of Stillwater, Ok., Leeann Orrell and husband Scott of Keefer, sons Bill Canaan and wife Sherri of Bixby, Richard Canaan and wife DeDe of Bixby, Monte Canaan and wife Chris of Lakeland, Fl., Jo Canaan and wife June of Tula, sister Ann Cormos and husband John of North Dakota, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Bob Canaan and Richard Canaan.
