Wildfires dotted the state Thursday – including one just east of Drumright. Highway patrolmen were diverting traffic on Highway 33 near the Highway 99 intersection.

High winds and dry conditions continue to complicate matters for firefighters across the state. Winds are expected to shift later in the evening causing even more problems.

According to Cushing Deputy Firechief Chris Pixler, Cushing is assisting Drumright and also near Sparks. Over 22 fires had been reported at this posting – the worst being in Midwest City where the number of homes destroyed continues to rise.
