Wesley James McWhirt, age 33 a longtime Cushing resident, went to be with His Lord and Savior on Monday, July 27, 2009.  Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel.  Reverend  Bill Alton will officiate.  Interment will follow at the Euchee Valley Memorial Park, Cushing.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Wesley was born on September 10, 1975 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Jimmy Leon and Roberta (Shemberger) McWhirt.  He grew up in Cushing and graduated from Cushing High School in 1994.  Wesley was one of the first Youth Center Athlete’s to win the State Championship in Wrestling.  He was an outstanding athlete- competing in football and baseball during High School.    After graduation, he attended Seminole Junior College and he was a member of the Baseball Team.    He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he made his decision.   Wesley loved music, especially playing his guitar.  He also liked working on motorcycles.

Wesley worked in construction.

Wesley is survived by his mother Roberta McWhirt of the home, brothers  Kymer McWhirt and wife Julie of Jennings, Darren McWhirt of Glencoe, sister Meryl Deer of Yale, nephews Kyle, Chris Jr. and Lucas, Aunts Beverly Prine of Drumright, Marie and husband Dr. Richard Goldstein of Stillwater, Uncles Don McWhirt and wife Trudy of Cushing, Bob Turley and wife Janet of Oklahoma City and numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents James McWhirt and Irema Cook, Maternal grandparents James and Nellie Shemberger.
