Viola Irene Goodwin, a longtime Cushing resident passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 77.  Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. , Saturday at the Church of God in Cushing.  Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Viola was born on October 7, 1931 in Cushing to the late Jack and Martha ( Blackburn ) Ramey.  She grew up in Cushing and moved to California during her high school years.  Viola married Billy Joe McNeal on November 1, 1946 in Cushing.  They lived in California for seventeen years before moving back to Cushing in 1964.  While in California , she worked in various school cafeterias.   Mr. McNeal passed away in 1966.  Viola married Emmitt Otis Goodwin on May 5, 1967 in Drumright , Oklahoma . They made their home in Cushing.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She loved her children equally.

She is survived by her children:  Billy Joe McNeal and wife Jerri of Kiowa, KS., John Goodwin and wife Faun of Enid, Robert McNeal and wife Joyce of Cushing, Matt McNeal of Drumright, Betty Herring and husband Joe of Prue, Ok., Roberta Sams of Cushing, Judy Herring and husband Wayne of Cushing, Linda McNeal of Cushing, Irene Leveridge and husband Jimmy of Cushing, Debra Flavell and husband David of Cushing, Lorraina Pyron and husband J.R. of Cushing, brothers Theodore Ramey of Arkansas, John Henry Ramey of Chickasha, T. A. Ramey and wife Lucy of Ponca City, Kenneth Ramey of Ponca City, sisters Theda Robinson and husband Robert of Chickasha, Karri Griffith and husband Ed of Jenks, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Billy Joe McNeal and Emmitt Otis Goodwin, brothers William Ramey, Raymond Ramey and Robert Lawrence Ramey, sister Mary Pettie.
