Vera Mae Chandler, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the Linwood Nursing home at the age of 84 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the First Assembly of God in Cushing. Pastor Robert Adams will officiate. Interment will follow at Euchee ValleyMemorial Park Cemetery, Cushing, Ok.

Vera was born on June 23, 1930 in Oilton, Oklahoma to the late Hubert H. and Edna M. (Cassaw) Ledgerwood. She grew up in the Cushing and Yale area, Vera attended Yale High School. Vera married the love of her life Arthur Chandler and to this union two daughters were born Lavonna and Charlotte. She enjoyed being a mom and a homemaker, reading about and teaching her daughters the Bible. Vera was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and enjoyed working in the woman’s group. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her great-great grandchild.
Vera is survived by her two daughters: LaVonna Kay Ward, Charlotte Marie Matheson and husband Rick, two brothers: Bill Ledgerwood and wife Verna, Elmer Ledgerwood and wife LaRita, five grandchildren: Kelly Ward, Crystal Morris, Jim Reid, Clay Reid, and Craig Reid, three step-grand sons: Dusty Matheson, Stoney Matheson, and Shawn Matheson, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Chandler, parents, one brother: Frank Ledgerwood, one sister: Wanda Combs, one son in-law Bill Ward, and one grandson: Cael Harrison.
