(Cushing) – A major power outage just before 8:00 PM Thursday hit both east side shopping centers, the result of an apparent downed power line. The cause of the downed line was not known, but high winds may have been a factor. Wal-Mart, Escott’s and other stores in the Cushing Plaza Mall were all turning customers away. Further east, the Summit Ridge Shopping Center with Taste of Tuscany, and Rodolpho’s Restaurants also appeared to be dark.

The new traffic lights installed in front of the Wal-Mart Supercenter were also dark, and the yet to be completed big box store had only security lights working.

Power was restored after an outage that lasted about half an hour.

The South side of Main street appeared to be lit up normally. It was not known when City of Cushing Crews would have the downed line repaired and power restored.
