(Yale, Okla) – A spokesman for the Payne County Sheriff’s Department says reports of a drowning were premature.  A child, identified was a young boy was taken from the scene by Lifenet to an area hospital for a possible neck injury, but otherwise apparently in good shape.

Authorities were called to the Cimarron River bridge over Norfolk road on a report of a possible drowning.  After a search of about an hour, the child, who had been “noodling” was located.  He had apparently become trapped, but was still able to get his head above water to breathe.

The identity of the boy was not released.
