(Cushing) – Cushing needed two wins Saturday against McCloud to win a regional title, and a trip to the 4A State Baseball tournament, and the Tigers delivered, getting an outstanding pitching performance from Garrett Evans,  and stellar defensive plays from Beau Bruce.  The Tigers have not been to the State Tournament since 1982.

Saturday found the Tigers shorthanded for pitching,  the top two Tiger pitchers,  Philip Wilson and Casey Youngman had already combined for 22 innings work on Thursday and Friday.   Garrett Evans took the hill for the Tigers and held McCloud to a single run through the first five innings and the Tigers went on the win game one 8-2.

With a trip to state on the line,  Evans pitched another 6 innings for the Tigers in game two, before being relived by Youngman.  Cushing won the second game 5-3 to win the Regional Title,  and advance to the State Tournament.

State Tournament Pairings will be announced this afternoon.
