Troy was born in the rural Chandler area on March 4, 1924 to William Perry and Alma Coda Wallace Gladden.  He was the 8th out of 11 children.  Troy attended school in Tryon and Davenport.  He was active in football, basketball and baseball.  He graduated from Davenport.             Troy received a scholarship to play football and baseball at Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University.

On November 6, 1945, he married Edna Herrmann in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Troy worked at several occupations including farming and ranching, seismograph and trucking, but the occupation he was most proud of was being a nationally registered engineer for the U.S. Corps of Engineers.  He was a construction engineer for a number of highways, bridges, airports, dams, and flood control devices.  His last big project was the Arcadia Lake.  He was over the dirt work for this dam.

Troy had a reputation of being a demanding inspector.  If something was not up to specifications, he made them tear it out and do it over again.

After retiring from the Corps of Engineers, he enjoyed running a cow/calf operation and taking care of his pecan grove.

Troy departed this life on October 19, 2009 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
