(STILLWATER, OKLA. / July 27, 2015) — Motorists are starting to see improvements on area roadways as the City of Stillwater Transportation Department is working towards wrapping up projects before OSU students arrive for the fall semester.
Contractors have been busy maintaining streets within city limits recently finishing preventative maintenance work on Jardot Road, Marine Avenue, 26th Avenue, Krayler Avenue and McElroy Avenue (northwest of the OSU campus). Lane and median striping will follow.
Streets being focused on for preventative maintenance this week include:
Lakeview Road (between Perkins and Jardot Road)
Boomer Road (between Washington Street and McElroy Road)
Road reconstruction work on Maple Avenue continues through September 8 as new pavement has been placed from Duncan to Duck Streets and demolition work is underway from Duncan to Main Street.
Other road reconstruction work slated for this fall include:
Newman Avenue (between Park and Star Drives)
Mathews Avenue (between Hoke and Main Streets)
Hoke Street (between Miller and Mathews Avenues)
Jefferson Street (between McElroy Road and Tyler Avenue)
Jefferson Street (between 7th and 6th Avenues)
McElroy Road (between Jardot Road to city limits)
Downtown Mini-Roundabout Project:
Truck aprons and the traffic circle are being installed at the mini-roundabout project located at the intersection of 10th Avenue and Main Street.
Transportation Engineer Sharla Lovern says that once the mini-roundabout is complete in mid-August, all four legs of the intersection will be yields and motorists should yield to pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcycles and other vehicles as they progress through the intersection.

South Main Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Rehabilitation work on the Main Street Bridge over Stillwater Creek is progressing. Completion of the project is on track to finish in November, weather permitting.
Finish coat has been replaced on the south third of the structural steel underneath the bridge deck. Contractors will start preparing work on the middle third of the structural steel with media blasting this week.
Approach slab on the north end of the bridge will also be place this week.
