(STILLWATER, OKLA. / July 17, 2015) — Work is progressing towards the end of completion for the 10th Avenue and Main Street mini-roundabout project with completion in mid-August, weather permitting.

Traffic cones and signage at the 10th Avenue and Main Street intersection are giving motorists the full effect of the flow of traffic through the mini-roundabout. City of Stillwater transportation officials want to help people understand that the mini-roundabout is a yielding intersection and they want to give motorists time to get used to the flow of traffic before installing the final pieces.

Starting the week of July 20, the roundabout will be open to pedestrian traffic as crews focus on the installation of the truck apron and center island. The Business Improvement District #1 will be looking at an aesthetic design for the center island during their August 6 board meeting.

The City is continuing to move forward with projects under the fiscal year 2015 Pavement Management Program. Contractors will start preventative maintenance (microsurfacing) work on the following roadways next week (week of July 20):

Jardot Road (between McElroy Road and Lakeview Road) Lakeview Road (between Perkins Road and Jardot Road)

Other roadways up for preventative maintenance will begin in early to mid-August:

Western Road (between 32nd Avenue and 6th Avenue) Boomer Road (between Washington Street and McElroy Road)

Motorists may experience brief lane/road closures while contractors work to lay a new smooth surface for vehicles traveling on the roadway. Plan trips accordingly or seek alternate routes in these affected areas.

These projects under the PMP were approved by the Stillwater City Council on July 7, 2014 for fiscal year 2015 at a cost of $4 million, encompassing 52 out of 442 total lane miles of pavement inside city limits.
