A traffic stop has led to the arrest of Cushing resident Charles Harrison Davis, WM, 41, on multiple drug charges.
Cushing Master Police Officer Bill McCarty was on patrol near the intersection of Walnut and Hough Streets, when he saw the vehicle Davis was driving run the stop sign at Hough and Walnut Streets. MPO McCarty stopped the car and contacted Davis in the parking lot at the Maveric Mini-Mart, which is just north of the intersection.
During the traffic stop, MPO McCarty learned Davis was driving with a revoked driver’s license. MPO McCarty placed Davis under arrest for driving with a revoked driver’s license. During the arrest, Officer Carson Watts searched the immediate area in which Davis was sitting inside of the car, and found a bag that contained large plastic baggie that contained several other small plastic baggies, which contained a green leafy substance. Other evidence of possibly connected to illegal drugs was discovered, too. Officer Watts field tested a portion of the green leafy substance, and it tested presumptive positive as marijuana. The seized substances will be submitted to the O.S.B.I. Laboratory for further testing.
In addition to driving with a revoked driver’s license, Davis was also held at the Cushing jail on complaints of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to pay taxes due to the state, failure to carry insurance verification, and possession of marijuana without a tax stamp.
“I am very pleased with the proactive efforts of MPO McCarty. This was a very good arrest”, Chief Terry Brannon said. “I am also pleased with the teamwork shown by Officer Watts and MPO McCarty. Working together resulted in these drugs being removed from our streets. The arrest of Davis continues to reflect our commitment to a safe, livable Cushing”, Brannon said.
Davis was formally charged with driving with a revoked driver’s license, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to pay taxes due to the state, and failure to carry insurance verification. Harrison is being is being held in the Payne County jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
