Former Cushing resident, Tony E. Eberhart was born July 20, 1929 in Ava, Missouri to Will and Ora Marie (Miller) Eberhart and passed from this life on Saturday morning, May 26, 2012.
Tony moved with his parents to Goodnight, Oklahoma at a very young age and was raised and educated in Ripley, Oklahoma.
Tony met the love of his life, Etta Joan Cummings and they were married on his birthday, July 20, 1949 in Perkins, Oklahoma. To this union they had four children, Melia, Carol, Martin, and Cheryl.
Tony and Joan moved their family to Bettendorf, Iowa where he began his career with the Milwaukee Rail Road and later working for Oscar Mayer before moving to Cushing, Oklahoma in 1975. Tony began his 21 year career with Sullivan Trucking Co. in early 1976 and moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma to become Operations Manager in 1985. Tony retired in 1997 and moved with his wife to Yale, Oklahoma and later Pawnee, Oklahoma where they lived until being moved to a nursing home in July 2011.
A 32nd Degree Mason, Tony loved to hunt, fish, and camp and he and Joan traveled to many states on vacation.
Tony leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Joan of almost 63 years, four children, Melia Douglas and husband Dick of Cordell, OK, Carol Ann Eberhart of San Antonio, TX, Martin Eberhart of Lexington, OK, and Cheryl Smith and her husband Chuck, Iowa City, IA.
Grandchildren, Cole, Case, Amber, James, Seth and Sarah and 5 great grandchildren.
Three brothers, Martin Eberhart of Davenport, IA, Fred Eberhart of Yale, OK, and Bill Eberhart of North Carolina. Two sisters, Margaret Chastain of Porter, OK, and Dixie Dooley of Yale, OK. Two sisters in law, Carol June Larkins and husband Col. John Larkins of Gadsden, AL and Gerldine Mitchell of Longview, TX and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Gene Eberhart.
A celebration of Tony’s life and burial with be held at Riverside Cemetery in Ralston, OK at a later date.
Cremation services are under the direction of Lensing Funeral & Cremation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the National Alzheimer’s Association.
