(Stillwater) – Cushing lost to Vinita in the Area tournament in Stillwater, and saw the season come to a close. It was a heartbreaking loss for the Tigers, who trailed much of the contest, but kept it close and had chances to tie or take the lead in the final minute. The final score was 63-61.

In the end, Cushing could not overcome poor free throw shooting, an Achilles heel throughout the season.

Philip Wilson finished with 19 points in his final game as a Tiger, including 13 points in the second half; Duane Vaughn finished with 18 points, 12 of which came from behind the three point arc.

Casey Youngman, who spend much of the first half on the bench in foul trouble finished with 6 points. Nick Edwards, finished with 5, which included a clutch three pointer late in the game that pulled Cushing to within one point. Jordan Bush was held to 6 points, all in the first half.

Tyler Farley scored two. Tyler Stukey logged significant playing time, but did not score.

It was the final game for Seniors Wilson, Bush, Youngman, Vaughn, and Edwards and Stukey.

Other Seniors include James Doty, Damon Sumlin, and Terrence Thomas.

Cushing finished the year with a record of 21-6, ranked 7th in the final regular season poll.
