(Cushing) – The Cushing Tigers host the Perkins-Tryon Demons in what has developed into a good rivalry over the past several years.  Over the past few years,  the Demons have gotten the best of the Tigers.

The game has taken on even more meaning because of the ties between the two coaches,  Lance Hoggatt, and Lloyd Wertman.

Hoggatt cut his coaching teeth at Perkins-Tryon,  some of that came under Wertman, a veteran coach who spent time at Stroud before being hired at Perkins-Tryon.

The players don’t back that far though,  most only remember last year’s contest,  won by the Demons in Perkins.

Two of this year’s Tigers Zach Hebensperger and Drake Roberts, came to the KUSH Studios Friday morning to talk about tonight’s game.

“We’ve been watching film all week, and we know they are going to try and run the ball….it’s three yards and a cloud of dust” Hebensperger said.  “We want to force them out of their comfort zone and game plan”.

The Tigers are still looking for their first win of the season, dropping a 2-07 decision last Friday to Okmulgee,  while the Demons are coming off a 28-7 shellacking of McLoud.

Kickoff for tonight’s contest is at 7:30 at Faye O’Dell Field.
