Amy Riddle and Tonyia Green are back, representing Tidal Schools with new events, wine and the upcoming 2nd annual Calabash!!!

By now, we should all know the Tidal School story. I never tire of hearing it. The beautiful structure was built in the 1920’s by John D. Rockefeller as a schoolhouse for the children of his oilfield workers and later the 8,000 square foot historical building was acquired by J.P. Getty. After Gary and Brenda Schroeder acquired the building and property, and they spent 2 years restoring and transforming it into Oklahoma’s premier winery and beautiful vineyard, and Tidal School Winery and Vineyard opened in 2004. The California Style winery, fashioned after Francis Ford Coppola’s vineyard in Napa, contains a tasting room and gift shop, banquet room, a beautiful deck overlooking the vineyards and offers a wine tasting, a tour of the facilities and operations – however that’s just the beginning.

Every month Tidal School brings to us a featured artist, or two, displaying their artwork in the banquet room. The artwork is for sale. These are Oklahoma artists, and they are so amazing. This month’s artist is Peni Cox and Shareen Parker Russ. Then, nearly every two weeks Tidal School, Gary & Brenda Schroeder and their amazing staff put together an event that is so…over the top. The food, the music, the talent, the crowd, not to mention some of the best wine I have ever tasted, is not only impressive but has been a lasting memory of enjoyment of my friends and I.

There is no way I can mention all the stellar talent and events that they have featured, but just to mention a few, Rhett Butler, Parrot-Ice, Harvest Brunch, Lon De Ada, and last weekend, the Rose Stone Trio. The music ranges  from jazz, flamenco, classical, pop, you name it, Tidal School chooses a variety of the best talent Oklahoma has to offer.

These are events you usually have to drive a long distance to enjoy and pay a lot of money to attend. A lot of Tidal School music concerts are free. Every time I go to these events at Tidal School and hear talent such as Lon De Ada, The Rose Stone Trio and I cannot imagine why the whole town was not there, and I wonder how in the heck did we get so lucky!! A lot of the musicians are award winning.  The Rose Stone Trio has played for presidents, governors, and are members of the Mid-America Arts Alliance and Oklahoma Arts Counsel Touring Artists. They are Oklahoma Centennial Artists.

Everything about Tidal School makes me so proud, another jewel of Oklahoma, and our area in particular, that I am so passionate about promoting. If you live in Cushing, Drumright or the surrounding areas, and you love culture, amazing talent and music, wonderful food, fantastic wine, and an opportunity to be with beautiful people  – young and old, you must go to these Tidal Schools events.

The next coming up is Calabash. A delicious Seafood feast, held outside overlooking the vineyard, our wonderful attentive Tidal staff serving our favorite Tidal wines, listening to great music. The Band, Quasimojo, is a vocal/instrumental group featuring vocals by Amanda Preslar. Amanda has twice been a finalist in the “Gimme The Mike” competition on TV (similar to American Idol) and is also a part-time performer at Full Moon Cafe in Tulsa in the “Dueling Piano” show. Amanda is accompanied by “Quasimojo” —Tom Hanford, Electric, & Acoustic Guitars & Vocals; Steve Elmore, Keyboards & Bass & Vocals; and Matt Martin, Drums. QUASIMOJO performs a variety of musical styles including R&B, Pop, Rock, Jazz, and Country…something for everyone! Artists covered include Bonnie Raitt, Steely Dan, Sting, Ray Charles, Eva Cassidy, Etta James, and Linda Ronstadt, among others.
AND there will be Karaoke afterwards!

My most effusive praise to our ambassadors of Tidal School and all of Oklahoma Vineyards: Our very classy Georgian, Amy Riddle who is the manager of Tidal School, she makes the artist selections, and does an amazing job keeping things going, and keeping the reputation of Tidal School “Outstanding”. Tonyia Greening who is a wonderful vocalist herself and responsible for coordinating these fun events and choosing the interesting, wonderful talent Tidal School brings to us, and who has so much class herself; And to the Schroeder’s for putting us on the map by setting the standard so high, for our wineries and vineyards that the world is taking notice. Another reason for Drumright Ok, to be very proud!

Now, weigh your options….couch, work, memorable fun, Calabash..couch, work., memorable music, food, wine and friends. Calabash!….See You There!!!
