Friday, June 27, the Cushing Country Club hosted the API golf tournament. With a total of 57 teams competing, it was deemed the biggest API tournament to date.

Once the competition was over, players gathered for a nice dinner in the formal dining room with drawings for various prizes were held throughout the evening.

The lucky winner of the door prize (a 9.5* Nike SQ squarehead driver donated by Pro Shop) was a Dennis Perkins of Cushing.

Perkins boasted to his friend Tony Vaughn Sunday that the new driver kept him “consistently in the fairway” and was “effortlessly easy to hit straight!”

This year’s winners were as follows:


First Place: Bruce Talon, Jack Daugherty, Mike Gaskins, Martin Waelder, with a score of 44.7

Second Place: Dennis Perkins, Greg Kidder, Daniel Evers, Jerry Sadler, with a score of 47.3

Third Place: Rick Lewis, Matt Thompson, Barry Mooreland, Vic Craybill with a score of 47.4

Fourth Place: Mike Hester, Bill Jackson, Russell Moyer, Jack Fritts, with a score of 48.2


After an initial tie, the play-off on the 16th hole was won by:

First Place: Mike Clayton, Bob Lackey, Kevin Fox, Steve Mullens, with a score of 42.2

Second Place: Mike Hildebrand, Rick Miller, Mark Graves, Scott Lewis with a score of 46

Third Place: Joe Red, Tucker Roderick, Nick Red, J.L. Smith with a score of 46

Fourth Place: Steve Harrell, Rick Reed, John Albaugh, Paul Matthews
