(Cushing, Okla) – Cushing Police Chief Terry Brannon submitted a letter of resignation to City Manager Steve Spears on Friday after five years on the job as chief, and 25 years with Cushing Police Department.
Spears told KUSH Monday afternoon that he was caught off guard by the resignation, and says Brannon will be missed.
“I think Terry has done a great job, and wish him well going forward.”
Brannon’s resignation takes effect in mid-July, Spears said, and the exact date of departure will actually be much later because Brannon has accrued leave that he will be credited.
“As with all personnel changes, the city will move forward to find the best candidate to replace Terry.”
Spears says he doesn’t know yet whether he will promote from within the department or whether he will go outside the department for a new chief.
