(Cushing, Okla.) The following information is based on a preliminary collision report furnished by the Department of Public Safety (DPS).

 

A fatality collision occurred May 6th (2018) at approximately 6:43 pm on State Highway 48, 3/10 of a mile south of Taylor Road, approximately 1 mile south, and 5 miles east of Terlton, in Pawnee County.

 

Involved in the collision were Caleb Dorsey (31) of Mannford, Patrick Olin Wantland (54) of Terlton, and Emory Lynn Herring Jr (38) of Cleveland.

 

Wantland was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, and Herring Jr was driving a 2015 Hyundai Elantra. Both vehicles were stopped at the stop light in the construction zone when the 2016 Toyota Tacoma that was being driven by Dorsey struck the Chevrolet Cobalt in the rear propelling it into the Hyundai Elantra.

 

Dorsey was not injured according to the DPS report. Wantland was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries, and Herring Jr was transported to Saint John Medical Center (Tulsa) where he was admitted in stable condition.

 

The DPS report shows that the collision is still under investigation.
