(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Cushing teenager — who was arrested in Memorial Park in Cushing — has been jailed on charges of possessing marijuana within 1,000 feet of a park, as well as drug paraphernalia and metal knuckles in his vehicle.
Kylor Grant Ledgerwood, 18, was arraigned Friday on the three-count charge, for which he could be incarcerated for three years and fined $3,250 if convicted.
Cushing Police Officer Matthew Piatt wrote in an affidavit that on 7 p.m. Jan. 28, he was on patrol in Memorial Park when he saw a vehicle parked by a picnic area and stopped to check on the occupants.
When the officer approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, Ledgerwood rolled down the driver’s window and “I could immediately smell a strong odor of burning marijuana emitting from the interior of the vehicle,” the Cushing officer alleged in his affidavit.
Cushing Police Sgt. Adam Harp arrived at the scene and also could smell a strong odor of marijuana, the affidavit alleged.
“Sgt. Harp asked Ledgerwood if he had any marijuana in the vehicle and Ledgerwood stated, ‘yes, in a lock safe.’ Ledgerwood also told Sgt. Harp that there was a blue smoking pipe in the center console.
“Ledgerwood stated the pipe, can safe and its contents were his,” the affidavit alleged.
“When I looked in the can safe, I saw a small clear ziplock baggy containing a green leafy substance. I also saw an aluminum foil package that Ledgerwood said contained acid,” Piatt alleged in his affidavit.
“While completing an inventory of the vehicle, I discovered a pair of brass knuckles in the center console,” the officer alleged in his affidavit.
