(Cushing, Okla) – A man arrested in connection with a Cushing murder has served time in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Benjamin Joel Andre Littlesun was arrested Friday evening in Cushing in connection with the death of a still unidentified woman who was found in an alleyway between the 100 block of Broadway and Cherry streets. The woman was still alive when found this morning around 7:00 AM, and was taken to Cushing Regional Hospital in critical condition. She later died as a result of what authorities say was “trauma”.
Littlesun has prior convictions in Creek and Payne Counties for car theft. Littlesun served time beginning in late 2009 until September of 2010 for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and is listed by the Stare Corrections Department as being on probation until November of 2013.
Cushing Police and agents of the OSBI along with Payne County Sheriff’s deputies have been working on the case since early Friday morning. Although authorities have not released much information, KUSH has learned from people interviewed in the case that the woman believed to have been the victim was at the Buckhorn Bar in downtown Cushing and was seen leaving the bar with Littlesun. The woman reportedly had been at the bar for a lengthy period, and was reportedly distraught over an argument with her boyfriend. Eyewitnesses say Littlesun returned to the bar afterward, and left almost immediately with another individual.
After spending much of the day at the crime scene in the alleyway behind the Tag Agency and Rick’s Pet Store, Police and Sheriff’s deputies were seen talking with someone in an oilfield work truck in the parking lot of the Wilshire Inn at about 6:00 PM, and a short time later, appeared to be processing a vehicle across the street in the Fleet Pride parking lot.
At about 7:00 PM, police, sheriff’s deputies and a unit of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol were seen conducting some sort of search near Highway 18 and Deep Rock Road in the area know as Drake Addition.
It has not been ascertained as to whether all these events were related.
Police have not released a possible motive for the killing, or mentioned whether any other suspects may be involved.
