Susann Darlene Branstetter, a longtime Cushing business owner and resident, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cushing on Monday August 4th 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Mike Murray will officiate. Interment will follow at 4:30 p.m. on Monday at Brumfield Cemetery in Seiling, Oklahoma.

Susann was born on January 7, 1946 in Enid, OK to the late John C. and Dorothy (Roberts) Gay. She grew up in and attended school in Alva graduating from Alva High School in 1964. Susann received her cosmetology license in Alva. She married the love of her life, Gary A. Branstetter, on April 2, 1971 in Seiling, OK. She later went back to school at OSU for a few years. They lived in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and then settled in Cushing in 1980. She and Gary opened Branstetter Insurance Agency in Cushing in 1984. Susann had obtained a real estate license, cosmetology license, and a commercial and personal insurance license. She and Gary were members of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she helped with setting up the library and also became the church librarian. She was a member of P.E.O. and enjoyed playing bunko with the girls. Susann will be remembered by her family for being a great cook. She and Gary enjoyed traveling on the motorcycle, visiting and camping out all over the United States, and were very fond of the Rocky Mountains. Susann was the matriarch of the family; she loved having all the family for gatherings and holidays.
Susann is survived by her husband Gary A. Branstetter of the home, sons Sammy White and wife Michele of Broken Arrow, Doug Branstetter and wife Ziva of Tulsa, daughters Shannon McBride and husband Dennis of Oilton, Teresa Walchirk and husband Mark of Walnut Creek, C.A., brother John C. Gay Jr. of Cushing, sisters Cynthia Baker of Enid, Debbie Tomlinson of Enid, and Darla Curran of Tulsa, as well as grandchildren Jeremy Newcity and wife Ashleigh, Shelby White, Jordan Branstetter, Parker Branstetter, Adam Walchirk, Ethan Walchirk, and Allison Walchirk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Darrel Gay, and grandson Justin Newcity.
