(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Stillwater woman alleged to have been driving under the influence of alcohol on Highway 51 on Saturday with two 13-year-olds as passengers was charged today with felony child endangerment and misdemeanor aggravated drunk driving.
Carla Marie Bays, 41, was arraigned today on the two-count charge and ordered to return to court on Aug. 12 with an attorney, court records show. She remains free on a personal recognizance bond.
Bays allegedly had an alcohol content level of .23, according to the case investigated by the Oklahoma State University Police Department.
If convicted of child endangerment for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol with her child and nephew in her Nissan Pathfinder, Bays could be given a four-year prison term and a $5,000 fine.
If convicted of aggravated drunk driving, Bays could be given a one-year jail term and a $1,000 fine, court records show.
