(Stillwater, Okla.) Stillwater police responded to a report of a very large fight, believed to involve about 100 people, at the Aspen Heights Apartment complex at 1:33 a.m. Sunday, a news release said today.
“The caller stated no weapons were seen, but ‘fists were flying,’” at the melee, Stillwater Police Captain Kyle Gibbs said in a news release.
“At least 11 police officers responded to the incident,” Gibbs said.
“As the first two officers arrived on scene, there was a very large crowd in the street in the 800 and 900 blocks of E. Crested Butte Drive,” Gibbs said.
“A large portion of the crowd began dissipating immediately as the officers arrived.
“Officers ordered those remaining at the scene to leave the area, in an effort to stabilize the situation,” Gibbs said.
One man, Avery M. Brown, refused to leave the area and was arrested for failure to obey a lawful order, Gibbs said.
Brown was taken to the city of Stillwater jail on the charge that carries a possible fine of $549, Gibbs said.
Another man, Travis Wilsey, was later cited for a loud music violation as a result of the response to the area, Gibbs said.
“Wilsey’s apartment in the 2700 block of N. Vail was found to have extremely loud music that could be heard from half a block away,” Gibbs said.
“As the investigating officer approached, he found approximately 25 people standing outside the apartment,” Gibbs said.
“Wilsey had been contacted and warned about loud music while hosting a party on Aug. 15,” Gibbs said.
