(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 28-year-old Stillwater man, who was found slumped over in his pickup at an apartment complex parking lot at 5:30 pm on Feb. 21, has been jailed on $150,000 bail pending a court appearance Monday on a charge of trafficking fentanyl.
Corbin Tate Schmidt and his passenger “are heavy opiate users and appeared to be ‘on the nod,"” Stillwater Police Officer Brett Moore alleged in an affidavit.
“I peered into the window and observed Corbin holding a pocket knife in his right hand and a cellophane wrapper, which contained several colorful pills, in his left. Due to the fear of an overdose, I knocked loudly on the window in an attempt to gain a response,” the officer alleged in his affidavit.
“Corbin began to wake up and observed my presence. Corbin attempted to hide the pills under his leg after realizing they were in his hand,” the affidavit alleged.
While the suspect was getting out of the truck, the wrapper containing the pills fell to the pavement, the affidavit alleged.
“The pills were bright colorful pills with the imprint M 30. These are commonly referred to as ‘rainbows’ or ‘Foxy’s,"” the affidavit alleged.
After more officers arrived, “I located numerous pieces of aluminum foil with burn marks, commonly referred to as ‘rails’ throughout the vehicle. Inside a black mag flashlight, we located a plastic container, which contained numerous color pills, which matched the ones found beneath Corbin,” Moore alleged in his affidavit.
The total weight of the seized pills that field-tested as fentanyl was eight grams, which is three grams more than required for an aggravated fentanyl trafficking charge, the affidavit alleged. If convicted, Schmidt could be imprisoned for two years to life and fined $25,000 to $100,000, court records show.
