Stillwater Man Injured In Early Morning Accident

(Stillwater, Okla.) –According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports an accident occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 21, 2014. The accident happened on State Highway 51, 1/10 of a mile west of Union Road (2.9 miles east of Stillwater) in Payne County.

Robert Dean Burch (44) of Stillwater, was driving a 1993 Chevrolet Pickup west bound on State Highway 51, in the inside lane when he became unconscious. His vehicle then left the roadway going down an embankment and striking a tree.

Burch was transported by LifeNet to Stillwater Medical Center, and then transferred to Saint Francis Hospital (Tulsa) where he was admitted in critical condition.

OHP reports that seat-belts were not in use, and the odor of alcohol was present.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
