(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 21-year-old Stillwater man has been given three concurrent 10-year prison terms for three separate charges of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute in Stillwater — while he was on probation for possessing marijuana with intent to distribute in Enid.
As part of a plea bargain, the Payne County sentences for Jonathan Bryce Hughes were ordered last week to run concurrently to his Garfield County sentence, which had been changed two months ago to an eight-year prison term from a five-year deferred sentence.
Only two days after Hughes originally received probation for his 2011 marijuana case in Garfield County, more than 20 grams of methamphetamine were found in his Stillwater motel room, along with two sets of digital scales, 70 baggies and two smoking pipes, when a search warrant was served on Sept. 13, 2012, court records show.
As part of a plea bargain last week, that Payne County methamphetamine charge was amended from trafficking to possession, for which he was given a 10-year prison term by District Judge Phillip Corley.
In another case, Hughes was given a concurrent 10-year prison term last week for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute that same day in Stillwater, when he also had a stolen gun and drug paraphernalia.
Hughes was also given a concurrent 10-year prison term last week for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute when he was arrested in the Walmart parking lot on Perkins Road in Stillwater, on Oct. 11, 2012.
