(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Stillwater man has been given a 12-year prison term followed by 13 years of probation for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possessing a stolen coin collection valued at over $2,000, both on July 5 in Stillwater.
Dominique Eugene Hornbeck, 39, who was already on probation for methamphetamine possession in Stillwater in 2014, pleaded guilty last week to his latest charges including having drug paraphernalia.
As part of a plea bargain approved by Payne County Associate District Judge Stephen Kistler on Sept. 19, Hornbeck’s probation in his 2014 drug case was revoked, to be served concurrently with his new sentence.
Hornbeck was a back-seat passenger in a car stopped for a traffic violation at 10:44 a.m. on July 5 at 6th and Stallard, Stillwater Police Officer Josh Carson wrote in an affidavit.
“Hornbeck was visibly shaking and he was moving all around the backseat. I watched as Hornbeck tried to conceal a Marlboro cigarette pack behind his back and then remove a clear Ziplock bag from the pack,” with methamphetamine that he threw toward the front of the vehicle, the officer wrote in his affidavit.
A female front-seat passenger said, “Hornbeck asked her to put the zip lock bag into her vagina as they were being stopped,” the affidavit said.
“The methamphetamine weighed 17 grams with an approximate street value of $550. Inside the jail, $196 was removed from Hornbeck’s person,” the affidavit said.
A search of Hornbeck’s cell phone showed a message at 6:08 p.m. on July 4 from an individual negotiating for three ounces of methamphetamine for $775, the affidavit said.
Three individuals, known to the officer due to their drug history, “attempted to contact Hornbeck today trying to buy ‘ice cream,’ a common street term for methamphetamine,” the affidavit said.
When Hornbeck’s home was searched, a stolen coin collection worth over $2,000 from a Stillwater man’s estate was found, along with his mail and car title, the affidavit said.
According to state Department of Corrections records, Hornbeck had previously been convicted in Payne County of:
* drug possession in 2006 for which he was placed on 10 years’ probation in 2006;
* being a felon in possession of a weapon in 2009 for which he was given a two-year prison term and served about two months in 2011;
* methamphetamine possession in 2014 for which he was given a six-month jail term followed by nine and one-half years of probation with Drug Court that he completed two years later.
