(STILLWATER, OK) – The Stillwater Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a shooting just occurred in the 400 block E. Rogers Drive at 10:07 P. M. Friday night. According to a media release from SPD Captain Kyle Gibbs, officers arrived and found Austin Lee Clavin, a 23 year old Perry resident, dead at the scene. Clavin had multiple gunshot wounds.
Gibbs says witnesses stated Clavin arrived at a party being held at a residence and confronted 23-year-old Robert Eugene Keeler, Jr., Stillwater, who was attending the party at the residence. An argument ensued and the confrontation continued. Witness statements indicate Keeler allegedly shot Clavin during the confrontation.
Gibbs says Keeler was arrested based upon probable cause and is being held on homicide related charges. Further evidence is being gathered and evaluated for presentation to the Payne County District Attorney’s office on Monday. The district attorney will make a decision on formal charges. Keeler’s initial appearance in court is tentatively scheduled for Monday afternoon.
