STILLWATER — A 37-year-old Stillwater man accused of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material has been ordered to have no contact with anyone under 18 or use any social media as a condition of his $50,000 bond that he posted on June 10, court records show.
Shawn Michel McKeown remains free pending his arraignment with an attorney on July 30 on a two-count felony charge punishable by up to 40 years in prison on conviction.
The case against McKeown was filed after “an online investigation on the BitTorrent network for offenders sharing child pornography,” according to allegations in an affidavit by Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Agent Rachell Savory, who is assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
Between 12:04 am and 12:29 am on March 21, a download was successfully completed of the file that the device at (an) IP address was making available; at 12:34 am the device at the IP address made 109 files available for sharing, the affidavit alleged.
After the subscriber of the IP address was located in Stillwater, a search warrant was served at a residence where McKeown was contacted on June 9, the affidavit alleged.
“McKeown admitted to downloading child sexual abuse material…McKeown explained how BitTorrent worked and how large files could be accessed. McKeown searched pornography online and saved files to McKeown’s computers,” the affidavit alleged.
“While at the scene, OSBI Technical Investigator Anna Alianelli previewed an external hard drive collected from McKeown’s bedroom,” and located a child sexual abuse video, the affidavit alleged.
