Stillwater man accused of driving on meth while running Cushing roadblock

   STILLWATER — A 55-year-old Stillwater man, who allegedly said he was under the influence of methamphetamine when he ran a roadblock at Cherry Street and Highland Avenue in Cushing, has been jailed on $30,000 bond pending a court appearance this week on a six-count charge.

   If convicted of running a roadblock, DUI on methamphetamine, attempting to elude police, resisting an officer, possession of methamphetamine and shoplifting a pocketknife in Cushing, Blakley Ross Youngker could be incarcerated for 18 years and fined $12,000, court records show.

   Youngker, whose first name has also been spelled as Blakeley and Blakely, was arrested by Cushing Police Officer Sara Reynolds in the 700 block of E. Broadway in Cushing at 12:20 pm on Aug. 31, court records show.

   While jailed, Youngker told Cushing Police Officer David Smith “that he was a recovering methamphetamine addict. Youngker stated that he had found a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe containing methamphetamine inside a sock on the ground at a gas station.

   “Youngker admitted that he smoked the methamphetamine from the pipe prior to going to Atwoods. Youngker also stated that he was still under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the incident,” the affidavit alleged.

   Officer Reynolds alleged in her affidavit that she was sent to Atwoods at about 12:04 pm on Aug. 31 regarding a possible shoplifter inside the store. “The employee stated he had observed Blakeley in the hunting section with his arm positioned in a manner that caused him concern. The employee stated that when he turned around to confront Blakeley, Blakeley was no longer present.

   “I began walking toward Blakeley’s vehicle as he began backing out of his parking space. Blakeley continued backing out of the parking space, so I knocked on the driver’s side window and stated, ‘Hey!’ Blakeley did not stop and began driving away.

   “Officer Smith subsequently located Blakeley’s vehicle and advised that Blakeley was failing to stop for him. A short time later, Officer Smith advised that he was in pursuit of Blakeley. I was one block west of their location, so I stopped at the intersection of Cherry Street and Highland Avenue and positioned my patrol vehicle at an angle in an attempt to block the roadway and cause Blakeley to stop.

   “As Blakely approached my patrol vehicle, he drove in front of me and turned northbound onto Highland Avenue. Officer Smith and I continued following Blakeley northbound on Highland Avenue until he turned westbound onto Broadway Street. While traveling in the 1000 block of E. Broadway Street, Officer Smith advised dispatch that Blakeley had thrown an object contained in a possible small black bag out of the vehicle’s window.

   “Once the vehicle came to a stop, I exited my patrol vehicle and drew my firearm. Officer Smith gave Blakeley commands to show his hands. Blakeley then opened the driver’s side door and exited the vehicle while holding a long object, which was later identified as lawn mower blades.

   “Blakeley was repeatedly instructed to get onto the ground; however, he continued to disregard our commands…I grabbed Blakeley by the back of his shirt and pushed him down onto the ground while instructing him to lie down…Officer Smith later advised me that K-9 Blitz had located one of the objects Blakeley had thrown from the vehicle…a chrome and red-colored pocketknife with a black blade.

   “I was also informed by Officer Smith that the first item Blakeley had thrown in the 1000 block of E. Broadway Street had also been recovered…a black sock with grey stripes that contained a broken glass smoking pipe. Inside the pipe was a white, crystal-like residue that tested positive for methamphetamine.

   “I collected the lawn mower blades from the scene and returned to Atwoods. The employee described the stolen knife as being a chrome red and black. He stated that he had located the knife’s packaging, which appeared to have been cut open with another knife.”

   A second knife had been found on Blakeley during Officer Smith’s custodial search, the affidavit alleged.
