(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Stillwater man accused of grabbing a 15-year-old girl by her arm and shoulder, pushing her into a window, and applying pressure with his hands around her neck has been ordered to appear in court on Feb. 28 with an attorney on a child abuse charge.

Alejandro Beltran, 39, who remains free on $2,000 bond, could receive a maximum penalty of life in prison if convicted of the felony charge filed last week, court records show.

Beltran was arrested at 1:20 a.m. on Jan. 15, about 12 minutes after two officers were sent to a residence on Ninth Street in Stillwater, a police affidavit said.

A 15-year-old girl, who was in the front yard, was crying and hysterical, Stillwater Police Officer Bryan Luginbill wrote in an affidavit.

She said that Beltran, to whom she is related, “had chased her out of the house and had grabbed her arm and hit her on the side of the face,” the affidavit alleged.

Beltran was inside the house and “displayed obvious signs of intoxication,” the affidavit alleged.

The girl “had a large red mark and bruising on her right upper bicep area,” as well as red scratch marks around her throat, the affidavit alleged.

“Due to recent visible injuries and statements that Alejandro (Beltran) had caused those injuries during the altercation, Alejandro was placed under arrest,” the affidavit said.
