(STILLWATER, Okla., October 30, 2015) – Oklahoma State University and the City of Stillwater have announced that Corey Kent White, OSU student and Voice 2015 contestant, will lead a benefit concert following the community-wide memorial scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 3 at Gallagher-Iba Arena. He will be joined by two local musicians who wrote songs in response to the Oct. 24 parade tragedy.

The memorial service will honor the lives lost and celebrate the lives saved, first responders and the strength of the Stillwater and Cowboy community. The concert will offer a time of healing and will follow the memorial at approximately 7:30 p.m.

“Our community has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support in recent days and we deeply appreciate Corey Kent White offering to lead a benefit concert to help bring healing to the Stillwater and OSU community,” said OSU President Burns Hargis. “And we are pleased to include two young musicians who have written touching tributes to the victims and responders.”

The concert will last less than an hour and in addition to White, will include OSU graduate James Price, who has written the song “There is a Light”, and OSU student Roy Cruz, who will perform “Stillwater Strong.”

Those attending the memorial are encouraged to remain for the benefit concert, but there will be time to exit. In addition, based on available seating, anyone arriving for the concert only will be allowed to enter.

Donations will be taken at the concert for the Stillwater Strong Fund established by the Stillwater Medical Center Foundation. The fund will provide assistance to victims and their families, with priority given to medical-related expenses.

The memorial service will feature music from a combined OSU and Stillwater High School orchestra and a Stillwater youth Honor Choir.

Speakers at the event are Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb, Stillwater Mayor Gina Noble, OSU President Burns Hargis and Matt Mills, president of the Interfaith Council at OSU.

Both events will be live streamed on OState.TV (www.ostate.tv).
