Letter Carriers Across Oklahoma to Collect Food Donations Along Their Routes to Benefit Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma

(OKLAHOMA CITY) – April 9, 2026 – On Saturday, May 9, letter carriers across central and western Oklahoma will collect nonperishable food donations from homes on their routes as part of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, presented by OG&E and American Fidelity.
“Hunger affects every community, and addressing it takes community action,” said Kelli Hayward Walsh, manager, OG&E Community Outreach & Engagement. “Stamp Out Hunger is neighbors helping neighbors, and OG&E stands alongside the Regional Food Bank in this impactful effort to help our neighbors.”
Oklahoma residents will receive a plastic bag in their mailbox the week prior to the event. Residents are encouraged to fill the donation bag, or any plastic bag, with nonperishable food and leave the bag by their mailbox before their letter carrier arrives on Saturday, May 9.
Since the event started in 1992, the food drive has collected more than 14.2 million pounds of food. Last year alone, it helped provide over 750,000 meals. Donations stay local and help stock the shelves of Regional Food Bank partners across central and western Oklahoma.
“The beauty of Stamp Out Hunger is how it unites our communities through a simple act of giving,” said Stacy Dykstra, CEO of the Regional Food Bank. “Donations collected through this drive directly support our neighbors experiencing hunger. We sincerely appreciate the continued partnership of the NALC and the United States Postal Service in making this drive possible.”
All nonperishable items are welcomed. Recommended items include peanut butter, canned tuna and chicken, canned fruits, pasta and canned sauce, soup and stew. Healthy food options are also needed, such as whole grain and low-sodium.
To make a financial donation, text “StampOK” to 53-555. Every $1 donated helps to provide three meals to Oklahomans living with hunger.
The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is additionally sponsored by CSAA-AAA Insurance, OU Health, WEOKIE Foundation, Bank of Oklahoma and the Oklahoman.
