The City of Cushing is reminding folks of the annual Spring Clean Up Week set for April 6th – 11th.

It’s time to gather up and throw away all those unusable, unwanted items and rubbish. Items can be disposed of for free at the Transfer Station located at 515 N. Luella. To take advantage of this free service, you must present a recent utility bill and a valid picture i.d. The hours for this service will be Monday 1 – 6 p.m., Tuesday – Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Allied Waste will also have a one day bulk waste curbside pickup on Saturday, April 11th. Items must be placed at curbside (no alleyways)in the early morning. The following restrictions apply:

1. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are accepted provided the Freon has been properly drained by a qualified technician, certification must be issued and placed on the unit.

2. Brush is to be cut into 4-foot lengths, tied and bundled. Bundles must not weigh over 50 lbs. each.

3. No massive pieces of concrete or rocks.

4. Smaller items should be placed in containers.

5. No massive construction or demolition materials.

6. No hazardous waste.

7. No batteries, pints, tires, oils or liquid substances.

8. No dead animal carcasses.

9. All bulky waste must be placed at the curb or roadside. Do Not Place in Alley.

According to City officials, following the spring clean up, the Code Enforcement office is planning to begin their town sweep involving weeds, grass, brush, rubbish and junk vehicles.

This is a great time for people to take this opportunity to clean up their properties – including the alleyways!
