Sonya Gayle Pittser Huckabay Percell, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 in Tulsa at the age of 48 years.
The daughter of Delane Pittser McElroy and the late Virgil Pittser, Sonya was born on May 29, 1963 in Tulsa. She was raised and educated in Tulsa, Bixby and Wagoner, graduating from Wagoner High School in 1981, as class valedictorian.
Her love for horses started at an early age and continued throughout her life. She enjoyed playing the piano, guitar and singing. Sonya often spent time visiting and singing with shut-ins. She was proud of the fact that she had memorized the Bible in the King James Version. She had also read the book “Gone with the Wind” by age 7. She loved animals, music, going to rodeos, horse shows and during her high school years was very active in the 4-H program.
Sonya received her L.P.N. certificate from Central Vo-Tech and had worked for several different hospitals including the Drumright Hospital prior to her retirement due to health reasons in 2006.
Sonya was united in marriage to Eddie Percell on December 15, 2000.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie, of the home; her children, Jessica Ledgerwood and her husband Franklin of Stillwater, Shanna Marler and her husband Jeremiah of Choctaw, Chelsea Huckabay and Samuel Pittser both of the home, Trea Percell of Cushing, James Percell and his wife Maria’ of Cushing and Sarah Sallee and her husband Ryan of Yale; her mother, Delane Pittser McElroy of Cushing; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glenn and Lilia Percell of Cushing; four grandchildren, Felix Marler, Eisley Marler, Avenlee’ Percell and Bow Sallee; two brothers, Brad Adams of Cushing and David Pittser and his wife Laura of Owasso; one niece, Davee Pittser; one nephew, Royce Pittser and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at
2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Cushing, with John Owens officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center.
In honor of Sonya, memorial contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Society.
