(Stillwater) – There will be at least one county wide race on the ballot for Payne County voters in November. Two men have filed for the office of Payne County Sheriff. Both are former longtime members of the department. One is a Democrat, the other a Republican.

Noel Bagwell filed his declaration of candidacy with the Payne County Election Board on Monday, Bagwell is a Democrat.

R.B. Hauf filed as a Republican on Tuesday.

Bagwell was appointed to the post last summer by the Payne County Board of Commissioners after longtime Sheriff Carl Hiner retired. Bagwell had been Undersheriff in the department under Hiner.

Hauf was an investigator in the Sheriff’s department for many years.

Thus far, it is the only county wide race for the general election ballot for Payne County.

Former Election Board Sectetary Glenna Craig has filed for election as County Clerk. She will face Linda Hatfield in the Democratic Primary.

County Commissioner for District 2 Gloria Hesser has drawn an opponent for her re-election bid. Republican Ronald Ross Gamble has filed for election to the seat that covers most of Stillwater.

Incumbent Court Clerk Lisa Lambert has not drawn an opponent in her re-election bid. Lambert is a Democrat.
