The Cushing Board of Education will meet Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in the Administration Building Board Room located at 1401 North Little Street in Cushing. Once the customary business is out of the way and executive session has returned to open session, a new superintendent could possibly be named.

Eddie Williams, who has served as Superintendent for many years, has announced his retirement and will be stepping down soon.

“I’m looking forward to going camping and not having to worry about what time or day it is,” Williams recently told KUSH.

Until then, however, there is business to conduct -and Williams will be doing just that at Thursday’s meeting.

Once he completes his reports, the Board will convene in Executive Session to discuss any lawsuits pending, the superintendent’s position and possible hiring of superintendent and the new superintendent’s contract.

The board will then return to open session where they will vote to approve/disapprove the items up for discussion.

Aside from the executive session items, other items on the agenda include an open meeting on comprehensive local education plan, consideration and possible action on approval gifted/talented plan, consideration and possible action on amendment to the 2008-2009 calendar and consideration and possible action on Band’s request to take an out-of-state trip.
