Sarah Catherine Elliott, a longtime Yale resident, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in the Drumright Nursing Home at the age of 85.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2009 in the First Baptist Church in Yale with Dr. D. Grant Wyse and Brother Mich Dershem officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawson Cemetery, Yale, OK.

The daughter of the late Bert and Ella Pearl (Arnold) Hager, Catherine was born on February 17, 1924 in Quay, Oklahoma. She grew up in Quay and Yale, attending school in Maremec and Quay. Catherine married Stanley Clifford Elliott Sr. on October 6, 1939 in Chandler, Oklahoma. They lived on a farm near Yale, where they raised cattle. Catherine stayed very involved with everything on the farm from milking cattle, raising a garden, and canning the produce. They managed the Conoco station in Yale for three years and later managed Gibble Gas in Yale for fourteen years. Catherine was a member of the First Baptist Church and of the Quay Home Demonstration Club. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and charcoal sketching.

Catherine was survived by her children Maxine Simpson of Yale, Clifford Elliott Jr. and wife Helen of Yale, Jim Elliott and wife Dorothy of Yale, Robert Elliott and wife Kathy of Yale,

Earl Elliott and wife Cathy of Yale, Mark Elliott and wife Shelly of Yale, David Elliott and wife Anita of Yale, grandchildren Jeff Elliott, Rodney Elliott and Marsha Kay Elliott, Jason Elliott and Krystl Elliott, Lee Elliott and Patrick Elliott, Brian Simpson, Gordon Simpson and Sandra Mehan, Shaun Elliott and Janette Gibson, Earl Elliott Jr. and Troy Elliott, Louis Hilderbrand, Randy Hilderbrand, Michelle Hilderbrand and Tammy Hilderbrand, Joseph Elliott and Emily Elliott, 40 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stanley Clifford Elliott Sr. in 1994, daughter Barbara Hilderbrand and infant baby boy, sisters Bertha Mae and Ethel.
