(Stroud, Oklahoma)- The Sac and Fox Nation Business Committee listened carefully to today’s announcement from Governor Kevin Stitt and leaders of the Comanche Nation and the Otoe-Missouria Tribe regarding the gaming compact.

“It’s my belief that many of the provisions in the compacts released today require the engagement of the Oklahoma Legislature,” stated Principal Chief Justin F. Wood. “The Sac and Fox Nation remains dedicated to protecting the interests of our tribal members. We remain steadfast in our support of the sovereign nations seeking a path forward through the federal court system.”

The Sac and Fox Nation is a federally recognized tribal nation of over 4,000 enrolled members. The Nation is led by the Business Committee, comprised of five elected officials: Principal Chief Justin Wood, Second Chief Don Abney, Secretary Jacklyn King, Treasurer Jared King, and Committee Member Robert Williamson. The Nation’s jurisdiction lies in portions of Payne, Lincoln and Pottawatomie counties, with the capitol complex located outside of Stroud.
