Ruth Yvonne Williams, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in the Linwood Village Nursing Home at the age of 79 years.
The daughter of the late George Edward Baird and Laura Viola Watson Baird, Ruth was born on August 31, 1932 in Yale. She was raised in the Yale, Glencoe & Quay area, graduating from Quay High School in 1950.
Ruth was united in marriage to Lawrence Harvey Williams on December 22, 1949 in Stillwater and to this union five children, Larry, Jean, Tom, Dwight and Mark, were born.
Ruth was a member of the Advent Christian Church and attended Sunday School at Council Valley Baptist Church. She was an avid sewer. Ruth went to work for the Cushing Hospital in 1979, working in various places: insurance, switch board and medicare department.
Survivors include her children, Lawrence “Larry” Williams, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Hooker, OK, Jean Yvonne Williams of Ada, OK, Tom Lee Williams and his wife Jill, of Buffalo, MO, Dwight David Williams and his wife Myra of Tulsa, OK, and Mark Alan Williams and his wife Kelley of Cushing; one sister, Laura Rathbun; one brother, Donald Baird; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Kandle Williams; five brothers, Reeder Baird, Robert Baird, Elton Baird, Nathan Baird and George Baird, Jr. and one sister, Marjorie McChesney.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lawson Cemetery at Yale with Reverend Larry Lehr officiating.
Serving as casket bearers and honorary casket bearers will be Kyle Williams, Eric Williams, Danny Williams, Cory Williams, Noah Williams, William D. Bright, III, Kegan Williams and Skyler Williams.
The family will greet friends on Sunday evening from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home.
