Ruby Williamson, retired surgical nurse, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2009 in Durant, Ok at the age of 88 years.

The daughter of the late William Clyde Watkins and Lucinda Parsons Watkins, Ruby was born on March 21, 1920 in Agra, OK and was reared and educated in the Agra area.

She was united in marriage to William Williamson on February 4, 1939 in Chandler and to this union four children, Norma, Ed, Melba, and Pam were born.

Ruby started her nursing career in Cherokee, OK, and had worked as a surgical nurse in Buffalo, Beaver, Liberal, KS and Guymon, prior to her retirement in 1986.

The couple moved to Ripley at this time, living in Ripley until 2006, when they moved to Kingston.

She was a member of the Big Creek Church of the Brethren Church; was a member of the Oklahoma Nurses Association and she enjoyed cross stitching, sewing, quilting and gardening.

She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, William Williamson of Kingston, OK; one son, Ed Williamson of Kingston; two daughters, Melba Lake of Lebanon, OK and Pam McElroy of Cushing; one sister Bonnie Ausbrook of Oilton; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Norma Owens; one-grand-daughter Cindy Shive; three sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 2 P.M. in the Agra First Baptist Church with Pastor John Holderread, pastor of the Big Creek Church of the Brethren, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Tryon Cemetery.

The family will greet friends on Wednesday evening, Feb. 4, 2009 from 5 until 7 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home.
